PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handy type simple device which can be easily moved even in a narrow working site and can perform handy shielded gas welding of good weld quality. SOLUTION: This handy type shielded gas electric welder is provided with a small gas cylinder and a connecting tool, and gas piping and gas opening/closing means in a casing for housing a welding electric source formed with a DC generating means in which an AC is converted into a DC with a first rectifier and this DC is converted into a high frequency power with an inverter and after being transformed into a welding voltage with a high frequency transformer which can be made light, it is converted into the DC with a second rectifier, and a control means for controlling DC current. A check valve is connected with a first gas piping connected from the outside and a second gas piping connecting the gas cylinder in the inner part of the casing, and made to flow together, and gas exhaust and stop are performed with one valve.
