PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cast a slab in which tapers are imparted to four faces, and thereby, inner defects are reduced, and capable of improving product quality and yield. SOLUTION: The mold 14 for continuous casting is provided with four movable molds 20, 22, 24 and 26 arranged in a mutually orthogonal relation. The four movable molds 20, 22, 24 and 26 are abutted on the inner faces of another movable molds 20, 22, 24 and 26 orthogonally crossed with the one side face thereof, so that a casting space S is closely defined. The respective movable molds 20, 22, 24 and 26 are moved forwards and downwards parallel to the confronted movable molds 20, 22, 24 and 26 by a first fluid-pressure cylinder 36. The respective movable molds 20, 22, 24 and 26 are energized by the first fluid-pressure cylinder 36 so as to always be abutted on the insides of the another movable molds 20, 22, 24 and 26 orthogonally crossed with the one side face thereof.
