The hanger (1) for the suspending of rails of a support construction below a ceiling has a slotted opening (11) extending in the hanger's longitudinal direction and joining a receiving opening (3) for the head of the rail, and forming two adjacent hanger sections (9,10). A safety element is provided to prevent inadvertent release of the rail from the hanger through widening of the slotted opening, especially through twisting of the hanger sections in relation to one another.
