Device for cleaning a measurement cable of a cable distance signaler in which the cable is pulled out from a housing against a return force. The device comprises cable cleaning means in an add-on part added to the front of the housing. The forward additional part (10) has an integral cable guide so that the cable is fed in a defined position past the cable cleaning means. An independent claim is made for a cable guide for use in a cable cleaner.
