The connection of a pipe (2) to a connector (1) which has a sealing element (4) installed in a cavity (5) includes a ring (3) which for the closing of the connection is pushed onto the connector and which on its inner side has two cylindrical sections (7,10). The pipe is inserted in the connector, and the chamber is constructed as a diameter widening of the connector, the outside diameter (D k) of which with the connection open exceeds the diameter (D 1) of the first cylindrical section (7) of the ring, and with the connection closed is reduced to the latter diameter (D 1).
