<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an over-cap enabling a person to drink a beverage in a container, which is heated to be on sale, without suffering a burn in the mouth, and a package using the over-cap. <P>SOLUTION: The over-cap comprises an over-cap body and a lid material unsealing piercing implement set inside the over-cap body. The piercing implement comprises a pair of supporting plates arranged consecutively on the interior of the over-cap body peripheral wall, a presser plate connected to the supporting plates via a hinge, and a lid material unsealing piercing edge formed consecutively on the periphery of the presser plate. The piercing edge is connected to the over-cap body peripheral wall via a thin connecting piece. The upper part of the area enclosed with the over-cap body peripheral wall forms an opening, and the upper end of the peripheral wall forms a lip.
