PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To complete the coating work applied to a vehicle for a prescribed cycle time by a reduced number of processes. SOLUTION: This coating system 10 for a protective layer-forming material comprises a first coating station ST1 and a second coating station ST2 in succession from the upstream side in the feed direction of the vehicle 14 and coating devices 11a and 11b are respectively arranged to the coating stations ST1 and ST2. At least one or more robots 16 are arranged on the left and right sides of each of the coating devices 11a and 11b along a feed line 12. In the first coating station ST1, the protective layer-forming material is mainly supplied to the whole upper surface of the vehicle 14 to apply rough coating thereto and, in the second coating station ST2, the roughly applied protective layer-forming material is further spread and a finish coating is applied.
