摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular magnetic recording structure that can decrease the undershoot magnetic field to the utmost and also increase the maximum perpendicular magnetic field to the utmost. SOLUTION: The perpendicular magnetic recording head is structured so as to be provided with MPCS 25 separated from both of a magnetic yoke 11 (pole tip 13) and a return pole 14 across gaps g1, g2. As a result of the magnetic potential control based on the presence of MPCS 25, the magnetic flux flow for recording discharged toward a magnetic recording medium 20 from the pole tip 13 is properly controlled, therefore, the magnetic characteristic for the recording characteristic is improved. Thus, since the magnetic characteristic (magnetic potential) of the perpendicular magnetic recording head is made suitable, the undershoot magnetic field decreases to the utmost, and the maximum perpendicular magnetic field increases to the utmost.
