摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable which can realize dispersion management with high accuracy and facilitate treatment of an excessive length, to provide a method for manufacturing the optical cable, and to provide an optical communication system including the optical cable. SOLUTION: This optical cable 1A is provided with a pipe cable 10A which is formed by bundling one or more hollow pipes 11<SB>1</SB>to 11<SB>6</SB>, and is formed by inserting an optical unit 20A formed by bundling one or more optical fibers 21<SB>1</SB>to 21<SB>6</SB>and sheathing them collectively into at least one of the one or more hollow pipes of the pipe cable. Each of the one or more optical fibers is formed by alternately providing a positive variance section and a negative variance section of which the wavelength dispersion at any wavelength in a wavelength region of 1,260 to 1,700 nm is positive and negative, respectively, and is a single mode optical fiber at any wavelength in the wavelength region of 1,260 to 1,700 nm.
