PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method suitable for separating powder or the like from a granule, and an apparatus. SOLUTION: The method is to separate the powder or the like from the granule using an exhaust pipe 2, a cylindrical first separation space, a conical second separation space, and a longitudinal cylinder having a carrying out port in descending order. In a first separation step, the granule containing the powder or the like which is a target of separation is introduced in a gyrating direction along by the wall face in a cylinder within the first separation space together with a first air (I), and a majority of the powder or the like mixed in the granule is risen by an air current in a pipe and is discharged from the exhaust pipe 2 to carry out the first separation. In a second separation step, a second air (II) is blown into against the granule to be fallen to the conical portion of the second separation space which is located downward in the first separation step to blow up the powder or the like in the granule to the first separation space. In a third separation step, a third air (III) is upwardly blown into from the downward side of a second air blowing-in position to blow up residual powder or the like to the second separation space.
