Channel transmission quality evaluation method for packet-based wireless communications system using actual data packet length and data packet error rate for received data packets

The method uses determination of the actual data packet length and the data packet error rate for the received data packets for evaluating the transmission quality of a frequency channel used in a frequency shift wireless communications system, e.g. by comparison of data packet error rate with a threshold value dependent on the ratio between the actual data packet length and a maximum data packet length. An independent claim for an adaptive frequency hopping method for a packet-based wireless communications system is also included.
