<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system and the like that enable a print content sending device to direct a printing device to use a thumbnail image without using a standardized command to use a thumbnail image and without causing a malfunction. <P>SOLUTION: Print content is described in an XML format, and a direction command is described in an XML format in the print content. In Step S201, when a processing control part 111 receives an input from a user input I/F part, Step S202 is reached. In Step S202, an independent information addition part 104 determines whether to use a thumbnail image in printing.
