<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To commonly a differential gear case to a conventional differential gear case by enabling adjustment of an initial torque from the outside a differential gear case. <P>SOLUTION: A power transmission device comprises a differential mechanism storing member 7 for storing a differential mechanism 5; a pair of driving shafts 9, 11 for outputting a driving force from the differential mechanism 5; and a clutch mechanism 15 capable of controlling a transmission torque between the differential mechanism storing member 7 and the driving shaft 11.
