PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion apparatus to be operated without impairing safety even when unburnt fuel due to poor ignition or combustion resides in an exhaust part. SOLUTION: The combustion apparatus 1 is so constructed that its operating condition shifts from an operation mode into a temporary stop mode on condition that an exhaust high limit safety device 20 has a temperature exceeding a preset threshold temperature. In the combustion apparatus 1, the operating condition shifting into the temporary stop mode causes the stop of a blower 38 to stop the supply of air required for maintaining and forming flames and to stop an electromagnetic pump 57 and an ignition plug 45, preventing the formation of additional flames.
