PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic reaction system for efficiently producing a lactic ester by chemical synthesis using a lactic acid material comprising lactic acid and/or a lactate, and to provide a method for producing the lactic ester using the synthetic reaction system. SOLUTION: The method for producing the lactic ester comprises synthesizing the lactic ester using the synthetic reaction system comprising lactic acid and/or a lactate, a 1-6C alcohol for obtaining the lactic ester, and a non-aqueous solvent constituting a two-layer separation system with water as one or more alcohols, other than the above alcohol, selected from 4-10C secondary and tertiary alcohols.
