PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide glass suitable as a glass tube for a fluorescent lamp, which can be subjected to sealing with tungsten, has sufficient ultraviolet solarization resistance, and satisfies high transmittance in the visible light region and a barrier property against harmful ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: The glass does not contain PbO substantially, contains, by mass, 65-80% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 1-10% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 12-25% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-3% Li<SB>2</SB>O, 0.5-6% Na<SB>2</SB>O, 0.1-5% K<SB>2</SB>O, 3-10% of Li<SB>2</SB>O+Na<SB>2</SB>O+K<SB>2</SB>O, 0.05-5% CaO, 0-3% MgO, 0.05-5% BaO, 0-3% SrO, 0-3% ZnO, 0.01-3% ZrO<SB>2</SB>, 0.05-3% WO<SB>3</SB>, 0.05-3% Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, 0.1-3% Sb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and 0.005-0.05% Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and is substantially free of TiO<SB>2</SB>and CeO<SB>2</SB>.
