PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic sensor having high heat-resistance and capable of being operated by a small external magnetic field. SOLUTION: A GMR element has at least one heat-resistant soft magnetic layer that reacts to an external magnetic field for changing a magnetization direction; and at least one bias layer including a heat-resistant magnetic layer having a predetermined magnetization direction. There is at least one non-magnetic layer for magnetically separating the heat-resistant soft magnetic layer from the bias layer between the heat-resistant soft magnetic layer and the bias layer. The heat-resistant soft magnetic layer should be the composition of (Ni<SB>x</SB>Fe<SB>1-x</SB>)<SB>y</SB>B<SB>1-y</SB>äin this case, 0.70≤x≤0.90 and 0.90≤y<1.00}. The heat-resistant magnetic layer for composing the bias layer should be the composition of (Co<SB>a</SB>Fe<SB>1-a</SB>)<SB>b</SB>B<SB>1-b</SB>äin this case, 0.70≤a≤1.00 and 0.90≤b≤1.00}.
