<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select the optimum channel in a short time when the number of channels usable in a radio network is relatively more. <P>SOLUTION: A radio communication system measures the interference signal level of alternative channel at a first step, selects a channel having a relatively less interference from the alternative channel as a candidate channel at a second step, measures the interference signal level in the candidate channel by all the stations, and controls the channel selection in order of selecting the candidate channel as a using channel if there is no problem.
