PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device in which reliable hermetical seal is provided, no deterioration is provided to a functioning member stored in a case by heat during the sealing operation, no deterioration with lapse of time occurs for signal transmission characteristics and high reliability is provided and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A casing 3 made of a case 5 and a cover member 8, a functioning member 2 stored in the casing 3 and an optical fiber 15 optically connected to the member 2 are provided. A cylindrical guide tube member 10 is integrally formed onto a guide section 13 of the fiber 15 of the casing 5. First and second soldering members 6 and 7 are low melting point soldering members. The fiber 15 is hermetically sealed to the member 10 by the member 6 and the member 8 is sealed and fixed to the casing 5 through the member 7 which has a melting point that is lower than the melting point of the member 6.
