PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide synthetic wax having a softening point equal to or higher than a melting point of natural wax, uniform in physical and chemical properties and having characteristics required in an end use for, e.g., an automotive polishing agent or a cosmetic. SOLUTION: A method for producing linear or cyclic alkylsilicone wax having the high softening point comprises reactingα-olefin wax containing 30 or more carbon atoms in its molecule with a hydrogenated silicone polymer in the presence of a catalyst. The linear or cyclic alkylsilicone wax thus produced has the softening point approximately equal to or higher than the melting point of the natural wax, and therefore is used in fields in which the natural wax is conventionally used.
