In a storage operation management system, upper and lower limits of a level threshold of a volume to be selected from a characteristic value of a volume management table are calculated and the volume within the range is presented to a user as an allocation candidate. When a change occurred in a storage device that configures the system, setting of the threshold suited to the change of the system configuration as well as selection and allocation of the volume based on a newly set threshold are enabled by automatically updating the volume management table.
