<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make accurately recognizable the positional relationship between a reference position and a medium in printing, thereby, for example, making the print starting position reliably and quickly adjustable. <P>SOLUTION: In relation to printing performed by forming dots on a medium by use of a movable print head, the print head is moved from the reference position in printing merely in a first setting length, a first reference pattern is printed on the medium, the end position of the medium with respect to the movement direction of the print head on the reference position side is detected, the print head is moved to the position away from the detected end position by a second setting length, and a second reference pattern is printed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
