<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a percussion instrument play game in which a player can more easily enjoy a game without harming original interest of the game to hit a simulated percussion instrument. <P>SOLUTION: This drum type operating device 100 is equipped with a hit body 150 modelling a Japanese drum and is detachably attached to an input connector 310 of the game machine main body 300 by an output connector 141 on a communication cable 131 equipped on a side face behind a base mount 120. Sensors 180 (180a, 180b, 180c, and 180d) are equipped on every areas constituting the hit face 70 and detect hitting on each area by the sensors 180. Detection signals by the sensors 180 are outputted to the game machine main body 300 via the communication cable 131.
