<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a field emission display panel to perform smooth luminance variable operation. <P>SOLUTION: As to the field emission display panel on which data electrode lines and scanning electrode lines are formed so as to be crossed each other at prescribed intervals and field light emitting elements are formed on the intersecting areas, the driving method includes a fade-out mode and a fade-in mode for connecting the data electrode lines in common in pre-charging time existing in the initial period of each horizontal driving time. When it reaches the starting time of fade-out operation in accordance with an external instruction signal in the fade-out mode, the pre-charging time is gradually extended in each progress of a unit frame in set fade-out operation time. When it reaches the starting time of fade-in operation in accordance with an external instruction signal in the fade-in mode, the pre-charging time is gradually shortened in each progress of the unit frame in set fade-in operation time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
