PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to be inexpensively adaptive to a new system without abandoning an existing car navigation system. SOLUTION: When the user inserts a CD-ROM, a CD-R, a DVD-ROM, or a DVD-R in hand, which is used for the existing car navigation system, to a selling apparatus 30 and designates a region being an update object, the CD-R or the DVD-R which has been rewritten with a new information part is provided. When an operator transmits the latest map information to a map information management server 20 by inputting this information to a map information supply terminal device 10, the map information management server 20 updates a map information database 200 with the transmitted information. The latest map information is transmitted to map information selling appartus installed at convenience stores and gasoline stations through a large-capacity information transfer network 40, and thus a CD-R or a DVD-R of the latest information for only the designated region is sold to the user from the map information selling apparatus 30.
