PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure and display precisely and easily the important spike spacing by removing an unnecessary mechanical load impeding movement of an opening/closing arm for the spike spacing measurement contacting or separating from the circumferential face of an obstacle spike in a game machine. SOLUTION: A plate reliance projection part 4A having a prescribed raised face size L and a spike bridging piece 4B contacting with or separating from each obstacle spike 2 in the straddling state over it are projected on the tip of a fixing arm 4 of a spike spacing measuring tool 3, and a spike reliance raised face 5a projecting to the outside of the opening/closing arm 5 is brought into elastic contact with the facing circumferential face 2A of each obstacle spike 2 together with a spike reliance raised face 4a projecting to the outside of the fixing arm 4, to thereby determine as an elastic contact point of the opening/closing arm 5. A spike spacing data signal S1 corresponding to the elastic contact point is detected from a light source position sensor P for receiving in the noncontact way beam light from a movable light source B disposed on the opening/closing arm 5, and a present character indicator A is controlled by a spike spacing counting signal S2 acquired by performing operation processing of the signal, to thereby enable to numerically display the inner side spacing D between two obstacle spikes 2 by the indicator A.
