摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make appropriate an amount and a timing of a pilot injection, and purify an exhaust gas by performing a post injection. SOLUTION: This compression ignition type internal combustion engine comprises a fuel injection valve for injecting a fuel to a chamber inside a cylinder, and controls the amount and timing of the fuel injected from the fuel injection valve based on an engine operation state. In this compression ignition type internal combustion engine, the pilot injection is performed before a compression top dead center, and thereafter, a main injection is performed subsequent to the compression top dead center. Further, a fuel injection amount and a fuel injection timing in the pilot injection are set such that a maximum heat generation rate by the pilot injection is equal to or less than 60kJ/s, and the post injection is performed after the main injection.
