PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means which can prevent a wrong operation by a user from occurring by surely identifying an optical adapter to be used. SOLUTION: On this optical adapter 32 side, an IC chip 41 for identification on which the identification information and the optical characteristic information of the optical adapter 32 are recorded is integrally provided. Also, on the distal end 3a side of an endoscope inserting section 3, an antenna 43 for acquiring the identification information and the optical characteristic information from the IC chip 41 for identification is provided for the constitution.
