<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of poor responsiveness to a wide hot water supply load, worsening responsiveness, and deteriorating efficiency for performing operation by a single compressor. <P>SOLUTION: This heat pump water heater is constituted, to widely change compression capacity up to operation in maximum capacity of all compressors 22 from operation in minimum capacity of the single compressor, by connecting a plurality of capacity variable compressors 22 in parallel.
