PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectroscopic colorimeter for accurately indicating the wavelength and radiant energy intensity of incident light by eliminating measured-value error in respective directions in the case where the incident angle of the incident light changes among three directions, X, Y andϕ, when measuring the chromaticity of a polarized ray of light. SOLUTION: A depolarizing plate is placed at an incident end of the spectroscopic colorimeter. Components of natural light in the three directions, X, Y andϕ, of the incident angle, make up about 95% of totality. Since the depolarization rate of the depolarizing plate is different in phase by substantially 90°inϕdirection, the degree of depolarization differs when the incident angleϕis shifted, changing indicated values of the spectroscopic colorimeter. In order to prevent this, two depolarizing plates are continuously placed with an angle of 45°shifted in the direction ofϕ. This can lessen a difference in degree of depolarization. When increasing the number of depolarizing plates and disposing them with the polarization angle shifted, the degree of depolarization is enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
