PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently heat-treat a titanium material in a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere while suppressing the coloring thereof. SOLUTION: As for the heat treatment equipment line for a titanium material, in a transport line for a titanium material, the upstream side is provided with a primary heat treatment furnace, and the downstream side is provided with a gaseous nitrogen atmospheric furnace as a secondary heat treatment furnace. In the heat treatment method for a titanium material, an oxide film having a thickness of 60 to 600Åis formed on the surface of a titanium material by the primary heat treatment furnace, and thereafter, heat treatment is performed at 600 to 900°C in gaseous nitrogen of the secondary heat treatment furnace. In the titanium material, the oxide film obtained by the primary heat treatment works as a barrier to the gaseous nitrogen in the secondary heat treatment, and coloring by the gaseous nitrogen does not occur.
