LIQUID DROPLET DISCHARGING DEVICE AND HEAD ABNORMALITY DETECTION/JUDGMENT METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a discharging abnormality (head abnormality) of liquid droplet discharging heads and to carry out a suitable recovery process according to its cause. SOLUTION: The liquid droplet discharging device has a plurality of the liquid droplet discharging heads with vibrating plates and actuators for displacing the vibrating plates; a driving circuit 18 for driving the actuators; a residual vibration detecting means 16 for detecting residual vibration of the vibrating plates after the actuators are driven; a pulse generating means for generating reference pulses; an arithmetic operation processing means 17 for operating the number of the reference pulses on the basis of the residual vibration of the vibrating plates; a judging means 20 for judging the head abnormality of the liquid droplet discharging heads; and a recovery means 24 for carrying out the recovery process of solving the judged head abnormality. The judging means 20 judges the cause of the head abnormality on the basis of the operation result of the operation processing means 17 and whether or not a predetermined recovery process is carried out immediately before by the recovery means 24.
