<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the constitution of the electrode of an electro-mechanical energy transducer, in a vibration-type drive unit which relatively drives a vibrator and a body to be driven by generating two flexural vibration modes. <P>SOLUTION: This vibratory drive unit has a vibrator, which is quipped with an elastic body (4) and an electro-mechanical energy transducer (5), having at least two electrodes and exciting vibration in the elastic body, by the application of the drive voltage of two phases of the same frequency to these electrodes, and a body to be driven (7) which contacts the elastic body. The vibrator can form a first flexural vibration mode, receiving the input of the two-phase drive voltage which goes into the same phase, and can form a second flexural vibration mode, receiving the input of the two-phase drive voltage which goes into reverse phase. This drive unit relatively drives the vibrator and the body to be driven by the combination of the first flexural vibration mode and the second flexural vibration mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
