PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movement detector which detects movement of a measuring matter present under the environment where it is difficult to set a sensor to emit an electric signal, such as under high voltage or in water, and which has high reliability and reduces work hours required for its maintenance and management. SOLUTION: This detector comprises; a detection light generation means 10; a light receiving means 20; a plurality of light transmission paths 30A, 30B and 30C differed in length, which are arranged in conformation to measuring matters A, B and C; a light branching means 40 for branching the detection light emitted from the detection light generation means 10 followed by transmitting to the light transmission paths 30A, 30B and 30C; and a light coupling means 50 for transmitting the detection light propagated in the light transmission paths 30A, 30B and 30C to the light receiving means. Light shielding means 33A, 33B, and 33C interlocking with the motion of the measuring matters A, B and C are interposed in the light transmission paths 30A, 30B and 30C, and the detection light is guided or interrupted according to the motion of the light shielding means 33A, 33B and 33C.
