PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an occupant protection device by detecting the presence or absence of a seated person securely without being affected by a position of the seated person. SOLUTION: This seat device for a vehicle is provided with a seat cushion 31 fixed on a vehicle floor and having a seat face 31a on which a person is seated, and a sensor 8 connected with a signal determining circuit 9 is arranged among the seat cushion 31 and a plurality of brackets 5. When distortion amount detected by a gage 8 is converted into load and the sum of calculated load is larger than set load, it is determined that there is the seated person and an air bag circuit of the occupant protection device can be operated.
