PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel driving method of a piezoelectric ink-jet head which can suppress residual vibration in a driving section as much as possible while suppressing significant reduction in flying speed of ink drops. SOLUTION: A constantτ<SB>UP</SB>upon voltage rise in drive voltage application, and a constantτ<SB>DN</SB>upon voltage fall in stoppage of drive voltage application, are set to fall within the range of at least one of the formulas (i) and (ii): Ta/(-ln0.01)≤τ<SB>UP</SB>≤Ta/(-ln0.25) (i), Ta/(-ln0.01)≤τ<SB>DN</SB>≤Ta/(-ln0.25) (ii), with respect to the cycle Ta of the residual vibration in the driving section. Alternatively, the driving section is driven by use of a drive voltage waveform having a pulse width T<SB>3</SB>of the drive voltage set to an integral multiple of the cycle Ta of the residual vibration of the driving section.
