The automatic transmission control system monitors transmission speed during gear changes. It is designed to monitor departure of transmission speed (n-t) from synchronous speed (Synchrondrehzahl) in a given gear, starting at a given time (t-0). The transmission control uses a filter circuit and may generate error signals on departure of the transmission speed from synchronous speed. An error signal may be generated after passing a first threshold (S-1) after a given time interval. There may be a second threshold (S-2) for a new gear speed (Ersatzsignal). The filter may give a time delay (t-f) after reaching the first threshold and produces an error signal at a first time (t-1). If this fails, an error signal is produced at a second time (t-2) after the second threshold has been reached.
