A magnetic head comprising a light magnetic pole formed by forming a magnetic film, characterized in that the magnetic film is formed by alternately laminating magnetic layers each mainly containing iron Fe and cobalt Co and insulation layers, and the insulation layers are formed as a discontinuous film. Accordingly, a light magnetic pole high in Bs value and large in magnetic permeability can be formed, whereby it is possible to provide a magnetic head provided with a high coercive force and permitting recording onto a high-density medium.
