<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical retardation compensation film having satisfactorily large retardation R<SB>e</SB>and R<SB>th</SB>, in spite of a thin film, and capable of improving the angle-of-view dependency and the contrast of a liquid crystal display device, and also, which can be used also as a protective film for a polarizer. <P>SOLUTION: The optical retardation compensation film is obtained by drawing an annular olefin-based resin film, and the retardation R<SB>e</SB>in a plane and the retardation R<SB>th</SB>in the thickness direction satisfy a prescribed condition, and also, the average thickness of the film is ≤6×10<SP>4</SP>nm, and the optical retardation compensation film can effectively compensate light elliptically polarized through a liquid crystal cell even though the film is thin, and the liquid crystal display device which has a is drastically improved contrast and angle of view can be obtained by using the optical retardation compensation film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
