PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability of a disk device by preventing entering of foreign matter into the disk device and preventing damage of parts. SOLUTION: A disk device 10 is provided with a transporting roller 21 transporting a disk 1 inserted from an insertion opening 11a to the prescribed setting position 7 in a case 10a. A gate 23 which can be opened and closed is provided at a transportation path 6 of the disk 1 from the insertion opening 11a to the setting position 7. An insertion detecting sensor 4 (light emitting element 14 and light receiving element 15) detecting insertion of the disk 1 is provided at an insertion opening side between the gate 23 and it in the transportation path 6 of the disk 1.
