PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver which shorten a time for channel intializing from a second time onward and is convenient with regard to a receiver having a function to select a channel and to set it. SOLUTION: It is discriminated whether or not there is a broadcast signal only with regard to channels other than channels registered that there is a broadcast signal with a channel map stored at the time of channel initalizing previously performed. Then, channel information which has newly detected the broadcast signal is additionally registered with the channel map of a storage means that there is the broadcast signal. Thus, a following inconvenience is solved: when the channel initializing is performed under deteriorated reception conditions, the channel information stored in the channel map by the channel initializing performed under normal reception conditions used to be updated into a channel map with less acquired channel information which is created by channel initializing performed afterward.
