PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to provide information without bothering a user, and also provide an information providing means that is easy to use for an information provider. SOLUTION: In an information distribution method, when a user sends e-mail in which an identifier of the desired information is entered to the text body, to a specified mail address, separate pieces of information corresponding to the entered identifier are returned to the mail address of the user as e-mail. The method achieves information servicing that does not require notification of a special identifier, and provides a means to use a plurality of information services by a single information request method, by incorporation of a mechanism that a plurality of identifiers in a plurality of hierarchies of identifiers are associated with separate pieces of information registered in a database (a distribution information database 12), and by incorporation of a database (an ambiguous identifier database) for converting an identifier entered by a user, which is judged as ambiguous, to an accurate identifier and a program therefor.
