PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce "lift" or "expansion" of excavated soil by rationally releasing a transfer air for discharging a cleaning iron powder from soil into the atmosphere to reduce an air pressure at the periphery of an excavation bit. SOLUTION: In an auger excavating machine for agitating and mixing the iron powder and in situ soil using the auger excavating machine to purify contaminated soil, the auger excavating machine is characterized in that the iron powder together with air can be discharged from the excavation bit provided on the tip end part of an auger shaft, due to the air drain blade which is provided on the auger shaft, the air for transferring the iron powder discharged from the excavation bit is released to the surface of excavated ground, and a decrease in ground load bearing ability at an excavation mixing region can be reduced.
