A ventilation jet for an air conditioning, or heating, system in a vehicle has a spherical socket (2, 3) fitted onto the outlet of an air duct (1) and holding a rotating spherical control element (4). The control element has a pattern of vanes (5) and a central duct (14) with a funnel shape at one end (12). In one setting of the control element the central duct is blocked by a fixed baffle (13) in the base of the socket and with a ring shaped air jet (9) at the outlet. By completely rotating the control element the funnel shaped profile captures all the airstream and expels it as one swivel controlled jet. The design can also be applied to cylindrical rotating air jets, e.g. with adjustable louvres.
