PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce rolling resistance of a tire by achieving the weight reduction of the tire and at the same time improve steering stability without causing deterioration in durability. SOLUTION: A rubber composition for a tire contains an inorganic filler in an amount of 20-120 pts.wt. and a polyethylene powder in an amount of 5-70 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. diene-based rubber and is produced by kneading at a temperature of not more than 140°C.
