PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronous rotary electric machine which can change the field strength by a rotor by means of a simple construction, without needing a special control circuit. SOLUTION: The synchronous rotary electric machine 1 has a stator 2 provided with a winding 22, a rotor 3 consisting of an outer rotation part 4 and an inner rotation part 5, and a clutch operation part 6. The relative position between the outer rotation part 4 and the inner rotation part 5 can be changed into a position, where the magnetic path by a permanent magnet 41 forms a rated magnetic path 301 and a position where it forms a reduced magnetic path 302. A rotor 3 is so constituted as to rotate, in the condition that it form the rated magnetic path 301, when the outer rotation part and the inner rotation part 5 are integrated by the clutch operation part 6 and to rotate in the condition that it form the reduced magnetic path 302, when it is energizing the winding 22 in the stator 2 from an external power source, in a state of the integration being released.
