PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical material composition having a higher refractive index and light resistance than before, and an optical material. SOLUTION: This optical material composition comprises a specified episulfide compound (A), an inorganic compound (B) having a sulfur atom and/or a selenium atom, an SH group-containing organic compound (C) having at least one SH group in the molecule, and an ultraviolet absorber (D) as the essential components, and the above component (C) is incorporated so as to render the content coefficient calculated by formula (2) (wherein n is a number of types of SH group-containing compounds and is shown by the sum of each content coefficient of each type when two or more types of the SH-group-containing compounds are added)≥2.45.
