PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free stopper for a sliding door capable of stopping a sliding door moving while being guided by upper and lower rails, in an optional position. SOLUTION: This free stopper is provided with an operating part 3 installed at a stile 2 of the sliding door 1; a barrel bolt rod 4 moved up and down by the operation of an operating part mounted in the stile; and a pressing body 6 provided at the tip part of the barrel bolt rod 4 to vertically press the rail 5 of the sliding door.
