The invention relates to an extended mobility tyre. The inventive tyre consists of a carcass-type reinforcing structure (10) which is anchored on either side of the tyre to a bead (1), each of said beads comprising an anchoring area which is used to support the reinforcing structure. Moreover, each of the sidewalls is reinforced with a sidewall insert (30) which is made from a rubber composition that can support a load corresponding to part of the weight of the vehicle when the tyre pressure is reduced significantly or zero. The inventive tyre further comprises an inner layer (40) which is made from a rubber composition that is essentially impervious to the inflation gas and which covers virtually all of the inside of the tyre, from one sidewall to the other. A connecting layer (50) is disposed between the sidewall insert and the inner layer. The inner layer is preferably made from a rubber composition based on butyl rubber, while the connecting layer is preferably made from a rubber composition based on natural rubber or synthetic polyisoprene with a high cis-1,4 chaining rate.
