<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems that, when voltage in phase or in opposite phase is applied to an ultrasonic transducer, a resonance undesirably occurs both in a transverse oscillation mode and in a longitudinal oscillation mode, and the operation of the ultrasonic motor is destabilzied. <P>SOLUTION: A driver for ultrasonic motors has at least two Langevin transducers whose tips are disposed so that the tips intersect each other at a predetermined angle and are joined with each other by a joining member. The driver comprises: the joining member; a holding member which couples together the Langevin transducers; a housing member which constitutes the Langevin transducers; a piezoelectric element; and a bolt member. The amount Y of torque per outside diameter of the bolt member when the housing member and the bolt member are bolted together is set so that the following expression holds: (α/10)<SP>2</SP>×5≤Y≤(α/10)<SP>2</SP>×100 äwhere, α: the outside diameter of the bolt member (mm), Y: the amount of torque (Nm)}. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
